Brighter the Better…?

Brighter the Better…?

“Stay away from the dark

And embrace the light,” they say

Light leaves shadow, a grimmer mark

As it merely keeps the darkness at bay.

Darkness, ever so black

Breaches crevices and seeps through cracks

They flash the light, thinking it’s something we lack

Why is light always the correct track?

Forced to be somewhere bright

As if light is meant to be always pure

And darkness does not mean right

As if luminescence is always the cure.

Shadow behind after being shone with light

Holding secrets that aren’t always right

Unseen stories, corrupted light

Thinking that darkness only means evil and fight.

Tainted beams, washing the ground

Leaving behind shadows, ever profound

Sniffing for darkness like a bloodhound

Bathing the dark if ever found.

They say darkness is nothing but evil

That it’s a haven for corruption and sin

But when someone brings it up, words purposeful

The room goes quieter than the drop of a pin.

Harsh judgements, declaring dark is bad

While encouraging land light-clad

Blinding society from the lies and the cracks

Making us believe that the dark is a depraved mass.
